Bridget M. Bordelon, Ph.D.
About
Dr. Bridget Bordelon’s research interests include tourism policy and planning, tourism accessibility and inclusion, apparent and nonapparent disability - food allergies and travel access, social and cultural tourism, crisis management and recovery, and cross-cultural analysis. Before joining the University of New Orleans, she worked in Denver, CO. as an event planner, as a research analyst at the Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan, and traveled and taught with Boston University’s International Honors Program in Brazil, India, and South Africa. Additionally, Dr. Bordelon teaches Sports Tourism and International Tourism with the UNO Innsbruck summer program.
Dr. Bordelon has received grant funding in the areas of cultural tourism, accessible tourism, and tourism economic impacts. She has been involved in several tourism industry research projects including studies for the Louisiana Office of Tourism, the New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation, and the Association of Destination Management Executives. She has published peer-reviewed articles in several journals including Tourism Planning and Development, Tourism Analysis, Journal of Hospitality Marketing and Management, Journal of Vacation Marketing, and Journal of Convention and Event Tourism. She is a reviewer for Annals of Tourism Research and serves on the editorial board of the International Journal of Leisure and Tourism Marketing.
She has presented her research findings at the local, national, and international level. Dr. Bordelon is ServSafe food allergen certified and an active member of the Travel and Tourism Research Association (TTRA), International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (I-CHRIE), and Mid-South Women in Tourism (MSWIT).
