University Logo
Our logo is the cornerstone of our brand and is the symbol of our pride and the most visible representation of who we are. Please take some time to fully review our guidelines and policies of our logo as it is important for us to uphold the design so that it remains the same in all materials.
- An official UNO logo is required in all communications and materials.
- They may not be combined with any other text, image, UNO Logo or any other organization's logo.
- Do not retype logo text using university fonts. UNO Name/Logo Usage Policy
The purpose of the UNO Name/Logo Usage Policy is to protect and regulate the use of the University's Name, slogans, logos and official insignia. The university reserves the right to approve and license merchandise for those products or merchandise which promote the image of UNO and demonstrate quality and good taste. Any commercial use of the name, slogans, logos and other related insignia associated with UNO in any manner must follow the Style Guide and be pre-approved by the University Marketing Office and licensed with an authorized vendor. For more information, review the Use of University Indicia Procedures here.
The University of New Orleans logo may not be edited or altered in any way. Merchandise purchased or produced by an organization for profit or not-for-profit must be approved in advance by the University Marketing Office. For more information contact the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership. Failure to do can result in penalties being accessed by the university. No student or student organization may make use of the institutional name of the University for the purpose of solicitation unless permission is obtained in writing from the Dean of Students.
For more information on the logo, branding, and the university platform, review the University of New Orleans Administrative Policy OP-23.2: Use of University Indicia.
Seal
As an official mark of the University, the use of the UNO Seal is limited for use by the President's Office and Provost's Office. Doing so helps retain the seals' integrity for very official "executive" communications and designated ceremonies, like commencement. For more information, visit our official guideline of University Seal use here.
Special Initiative Logos
To strengthen the university's visual identity, the creation of custom logos is restricted.
The university logo is the official mark of the University of New Orleans. Unit logos and unit shortcuts allow individual colleges, departments, centers, institutes, and administrative offices to identify themselves and their affiliation with the university. Academic colleges and departments are not allowed to use custom logos.
Custom logos for other campus units are allowed only in rare instances. These logos can augment - but never replace - your department branding. The duration of the use of this logo is short-term, and promotes and identifies a particular event or initiative.
Creation of a custom logo will be considered under the following circumstances:
- When an external grant or partnership requires a unique logo and/or results in the formation of a unit (i.e., a center or institute)
- When an administrative unit has compelling needs for a unique identity to complement the university's brand identity
- For special university-sponsored events
- For special university-wide initiatives
- If there is a compelling need for your unit to produce a unique logo, you must contact the Office of Communications and Marketing to discuss your needs.
All custom logos must meet a few basic design and usage standards, must be either created or approved by the Office of Communications and Marketing before implementation.
Student Organization T-Shirt
Official student organizations must use customized logos that incorporate the University's primary academic logo. These logos must be used in printed material and on organization shirts. For approval, please email creative@uno.edu.
