Grants

Grants are monies provided by the federal government to assist students pursuing their first bachelor's degree. These funds are not loans and do not have to be repaid unless the student's eligibility changes within the academic year (in which the student was awarded incorrectly) or the student withdraws from the university within a certain period of the semester.

 

Grant Types

Pell and SEOG Grants

Grants such as Pell and SEOG are monies provided by the federal government to assist students pursuing their first bachelor's degree. These funds are not loans and do not have to be repaid unless the student's eligibility changes within the academic year (in which the student was awarded incorrectly) or the student withdraws from the university within a certain period of the semester.

Louisiana Go Grant

The purpose of this program is to provide a need-based component to the state’s financial aid plan to support nontraditional and low to moderate-income students who need additional aid to afford the cost of attending college.

TEACH Grant

The College Cost Reduction and Access Act of 2007 created the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program, which awards grants to students who intend to teach.
