Green Energy
The Dr. Robert A. Savoie College of Engineering has expertise in civil, environmental, computer, electrical and mechanical engineering, as well as naval architecture and marine engineering. Intersections in these fields support research and development in sustainable energy solutions. This approach integrates knowledge needed to tackle complex challenges of creating, implementing, and maintaining a sustainable energy infrastructure.
Our current areas of expertise include smart grids that are both resilient and capable of efficiently integrating energy from a range of sources. We are also active in designing the structural platforms for and the efficient design of offshore turbines. Our region has unique conditions that require a re-thinking of conventional design. Our expertise in marine, mechanical, structural, geotechnical, and electrical engineering can address these interdisciplinary complex challenges.
In addition, we have expertise in green hydrogen technology. We are currently building a state-of-the-art facility that will drive research to develop efficient solutions to the use of hydrogen in maritime vessels. This translational research has the potential to impact other sectors.
