The University of New Orleans Transportation Institute boasts a long history of contributing to the region by bringing the expertise of faculty and the students whom they train to addressing needs in the movement of passengers and freight. UNOTI’s researchers focus on evacuation, maritime and intermodal transportation, finance, public transit, active transportation and transit-oriented development. UNOTI’s subsidiary, the newly founded Center for Equitable Transit-Oriented Communities, is committed to developing transit-centered, equitable, and resilient communities by addressing residents’ transportation needs while preserving the area’s environment. Investment in these two initiatives will have a direct effect on the stability, improvement and growth in areas key to the economy of Louisiana and surrounding states.
