Naval and Subsea Technology
The UNO Naval and Subsea Technology (NasTech) Research Group aims to develop advanced technologies to monitor, detect, understand and better predict oceanic environmental parameters, subsea and maritime infrastructure, including fleet management, vessel performance monitoring, vessel structure health, and warfighters/workforce training. The NasTech Research Group members include computer scientists, naval architecture engineers, civil engineers, physicists, and earth and environmental experts.
The NasTech Research Group is currently seeking seed research funding to initiate projects and to jointly establish, with our Department of the Navy partners, an autonomous underwater vehicle research facility at The Beach at UNO (the adjacent research and technology park), with Lake Pontchartrain and the Gulf of Mexico as testbed environments. This planned research facility is expected to be equipped with state-of-the-art computing resources for data acquisition, processing, analysis, interpretation visualization, and prediction.
